I plan on doing other stuff besides pokémon, but right now it's mostly pokémon.

Brilliant Diamond and Shiny Pearl Silence - No News is Good News?

Pokémon news has been dry since the announcement of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (BDSP) alongside Pokémon Legends Arceus. Although there have been the regular updates on new card sets and special events in Pokémon Go, I'm kind of surprised we haven't gotten any other news about BDSP. It makes me a little nervous, as it makes it seem like there isn't anything to report. My biggest fear is these will be straight up ports with graphical upgrades. I will still buy them, as I enjoyed the Sinnoh games, but I don't think I would enjoy them as much as if they had something new that the originals didn't. This line of thinking has led me to think about another possibility. It is possible, although unlikely, that perhaps The Pokémon Company (TPCi) is slowly learning that it's probably not the best idea to give away all the new additions to a remake so early or make claims they don't fulfill. The Science of Pokémon: An Argument for Inorganic Pokemon

Fantasy monster or apex predator? One of the biggest arguments I see relating to inorganic pokémon is the general consensus that pokémon that look like inorganic objects are not feasible. However, I wish to present a rather scientific argument as to why these pokémon whose adaptations are inspired by man-made objects make perfect sense. Since the beginning of the franchise, evolution has been an important mechanic.  As I explained in a previous blog , pokémon evolution isn't actually true evolution. Instead, it is a metamorphosis, with juvenile organisms eventually maturing into adults. Not every animal goes through metamorphosis, which explains why some pokémon never "evolve" in the game. That doesn't mean that natural selection, the driving force behind real world evolution, doesn't occur. Hot Take: "Faithful" Remakes Aren't Good Remakes

The holiday shopping season has been in full swing for some time now and I'm sure some kids have asked for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl (BDSP) for Christmas. Of course, I hope these players who never experienced Sinnoh before will enjoy these games. As a first play experience, they aren't terrible. That said, they aren't great, either. In fact, I haven't particularly enjoyed my experience with BDSP. I know I haven't said anything about these games, or any games, for months on this blog. To be honest, there hasn't been much to say. The info cycle for BDSP was practically nonexistent. I'm sure this likely relates to these games being practically carbon copies of their original versions. What is there to say that hasn't been said? Nothing good, apparently.  Now, I wouldn't say I hate these games by any means. They are fine.
