Pokémon Presents: What's Coming in 2021 and 2022
The Pokémon Company did not disappoint with today's video! We got New Pokémon Snap, Sinnoh Remakes, and even A NEW GAME launching in 2022. You can watch the video above for the full video. Here are my takes:
- New Pokémon Snap: The game looks gorgeous and the sheer number of pokémon present in the game seems to be very high. This obviously means the games will likely have a high replay value. There also seems to be a lot of focus on sharing the photos taken. I assume this means on social media. Currently the Nintendo Switch isn't the best when it comes to sharing screenshots, but maybe we'll get some in-game menu that would make it easier to share the images.
- Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: The remakes we knew were likely coming dropped. The graphics are very "Pokémon Let's Go" like, however, the overworld is distinctly different in appearance, more like a more modern take of the original games rather than some sort of reboot. This makes the overworld look weird, mainly the NPCs, but the battles look very "Let's GO." I don't hate this, to be honest, as I think the pokémon models, lighting, and scenery are better looking in "Let's GO" than in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
- Pokémon Legends- Arceus: This is the game that likely blew everyone's minds. Set in what appears to be feudal Sinnoh, players are in what appears to be an open world, almost "Breath of the Wild" like open world. We saw pokémon in the overworld, what appears to be buddy pokémon, and clean standard battles. I have to say, it looks like we are finally getting the open world pokémon game we've been asking for. Overall, the concept and appearance of the game is stunning. It also seems to heavily focus on lore (specifically around Arceus), which I am ALL for.
